Album Title : Our Memories Of Elvis
Catalogue Number : AQL1 - 3279
Year Release : February 1979
Brief History : A year and a half after Elvis Presley's
death, RCA, under reissue producer Joan Deary, began to
try to bring coherence to its posthumous releases by launching
a Memories of Elvis series of releases. The idea, as a
sleeve note signed by "Elvis' Father, The Colonel
and RCA Records" put it, was to present "the
pure Elvis": i.e., Presley recordings with the overdubbing
that had become standard in his later years stripped off,
leaving basic tracks consisting of Presley's voice and
a few instruments.
Details : Front Cover : Elvis' Father & The Colonel
photo. Title top right on gold disc.
Rear Cover : Elvis photo. Printed in U.S.A. bottom left.
Label : Black dog near top.
Side A : RCA logo at top. Side B : RCA logo at top.
Pressing Plant : Indianapolis
Matrix Number Side A : AQL1 - 3279 - A - 1S A3 (Machine
Stamped) U (Hand Etched)
Matrix Number Side B : AQL1 - 3279 - B - 1S A2 (Machine
Stamped) U (Hand Etched)
*NOTE* No catalogue number on front or rear covers. The
first volume boasted a previously unreleased version of
"Are You Sincere." But the series failed to
reverse the commercial decline in posthumous Elvis releases,
and after a second volume, it was discontinued.

Brief History : To an Elvis collector or vinyl Historian
there is no need to introduce this album, an album that
is one of the greatest ever released into the music world
and one that is not an official release but a bootleg by
the great Paul Dowling. A beautiful 2 LP set that consists
of the 2 sit down shows. Much of this material has now been
officially released, however nothing beats this.

Brief History : To an Elvis collector or vinyl Historian
there is no need to introduce this second volume of the
Burbank Sessions, an album that is one of the greatest ever
released into the music world and one that is not an official
release but a bootleg by the great Paul Dowling. A beautiful
2 LP set that consists of the 2 stand up shows. Much of
this material has now been officially released, however
nothing beats this.

OUR
MEMORIES OF ELVIS, VOL 2 (LP)
(US) RCA AQL1 3448
Released: August 1979 Side A : I Got A
Feelin' In My Body - Green Green Grass Of Home - For The
Heart - She Wears My Ring - I Can Help
Side B : Way Down - There's A Honky Tonk Angel - Find Out
What's Happening - Thinking About You - Don't Think Twice
It's All Right (Unreleased Complete Studio Jam Session)
Brief History :
Subtitled "More of the Pure Elvis Sound," Our
Memories of Elvis, Volume 2 is the second and final volume
of RCA's series of reissues devoted to presenting Elvis
Presley recordings minus the overdubs that were originally
applied to them. Presley's vocals stand out more prominently,
though there are still a few instruments and backup singers
present.
But the problem isn't a lack of purity, it's a lack of
quality. The album's highlight is a previously unreleased
long version of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's
All Right," running over eight and a half minutes.
But that isn't enough to make this album essential, nor
did it seem so upon release, when the LP sold poorly, leading
to the discontinuation of the series.
