NOW (LP) (US) RCA LSP 4671 Released: February 1972 Side 1 Help Me Make It Through The Night ****** Miracle Of The Rosary ***** Hey Jude * Put Your Hand In The Hand ********* Until It's Time For You To Go ****** Side 2 We Can Make The Morning ******** Early Mornin' Rain **** Sylvia *** Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread) ******* I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago ** * Recorded: American Studios, Memphis,
January 21, 1969 Brief History : Elvis Now is a gold-selling Elvis Presley album from 1972. Despite the "now" in the title, the tracks on this album were recorded anywhere from one to three years before its release. The Beatles' "Hey Jude" was a leftover from the legendary sessions at the American Studio in Memphis in early 1969 and, judging by its casual performance, not intended for an album release. Sylvia and I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago were recorded during the Nashville "marathon" sessions of June 1970 (the latter had been released in fragmentary form on the Elvis Country album). The rest of the songs emanate from the more recent sessions held at RCA Studio B in Nashville in March, May, and June 1971. Unlike Elvis' other albums of that period (Elvis Country, He Touched Me and Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas, each dedicated to a particular genre) Elvis Now encompasses a variety of genres, including country, gospel, soul and pop. The only single from the album, "Until It's Time for You to Go / We Can Make The Morning" reached number 9 on the Adult Contemporary Chart in the US in March 1972 and number 5 on the UK Singles Chart in April 1972. The album was certified Gold on 3/27/1992 by the RIAA. In 2010 an extended version of the album was released as part of the FTD collector series. It consists of the original 1972 album and a number of bonus tracks, originating from the 1971 Nashville sessions: two non-album singles from 1971 (I’m Leavin’ and It’s Only Love), a b-side from the upcoming An American Trilogy single (First Time Ever I Saw Your Face) as well as plenty of outtakes, including Don't Think Twice, It's All Right informal jam, lasting more than nine minutes (its shortened version having been included on the 1973 Elvis album). |

Madison Square Garden, New York City, Brief History : Elvis: As Recorded at Madison Square Garden is a live musical album recorded by Elvis Presley and released in June 1972 by RCA Records peaking on the charts in July 1972. Recorded at the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on Saturday June 10, 1972, the concert, and the subsequent album, were promoted as being Presley's first live concerts in the Big Apple since the 1950s. It was certified Gold on 8/4/1972, Platinum on 5/20/1988, 2x Platinum on 3/27/1992 and 3x Platinum on 7/15/1999 by the RIAA. Despite the lengthy track listing, the release was only a single disc, and the record was released only a week after the concert itself. Elvis' very next album would also be a live recording featuring many of the same songs: Aloha from Hawaii: Via Satellite. The concert included on this album was the evening show. An afternoon performance was also recorded, but except for a performance of "I Can't Stop Loving You" which appeared in the 1977 compilation, Welcome to My World, it remained unreleased until the 1990s when it was issued as An Afternoon in the Garden. Drummer Ronnie Tutt claimed in an interview in 2009 for the BBC documentary Elvis in Vegas that Colonel Tom Parker sped up the mixes so that more tracks could be on the album, increasing his publishing royalties. Tutt's account has never been proven as factual. Front Cover : Photo of Elvis. Title top right. Catalogue

SEPARATE
WAYS (LP) Brief History : Separate Ways is a compilation album by Elvis Presley from 1972. Released by RCA Records under its RCA-Camden subsidiary exactly one month after another compilation, Burning Love and Hits from His Movies, Volume 2, Separate Ways was the second and final attempt by RCA to repackage older Elvis recordings by pairing them with a recent hit single, in this case "Separate Ways" and its flipside "Always On My Mind". The remainder of the album -- which was not promoted as a compilation on the front cover -- consisted of a mixture of previously released recordings from Presley film soundtracks of the 1960s, plus one song, "Old Shep", dating back to 1956. The album was reissued by Pickwick/Camden utilizing the original catalogue number CAS-2611. The only apparent difference is the cover indicates Pickwick at the bottom center front, where as the original issue indicated RCA. The contents of the re-issue are exactly the same as the original issue. It just missed the top 10 of the Billboard charts on its release and has since gone on to sell over 3 million copies world-wide. It was certified Gold on 3/27/1992 and Platinum on 1/6/2004 by the RIAA. Front Cover : Photo of Elvis. Title top right. Catalogue
