Lead - It's Still Here - It's Impossible Brief History : Elvis is Elvis Presley's self-titled 1973 album. This album is often called The Fool album after one of the songs included in it, in order to differentiate it from the 1956 album of the same title. The album sold over 1 million copies worldwide despite it being released soon after the much more successful Aloha from Hawaii album. Fool and Where Do I Go From Here were recorded in March 1972. It's Impossible is a live recording from the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas from February 1972. Tracks 3, 4, 6-10 were leftovers from the March and May 1971 recording sessions at RCA's Studio B in Nashville. Three songs feature the King on piano: It's Still Here, I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen and I Will Be True These three selections were all released together for a second time as part of the 1980 boxed set, Elvis Aron Presley. The song "Fool" was also released in this collection. Four other songs in this album were also reissued in other albums, as well; "It's Impossible" (Pure Gold, 1975), "Padre" (He Walks Beside Me, 1978), "(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me" (A Canadian Tribute, 1978) and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (Our Memories Of Elvis Volume 2, 1979). The title track "Fool" was issued as a single and managed to reach no 15 in the UK backed by a live version of "Steamroller Blues". On 12/1/2010 the album was certified 5 times Platinum by the RIAA. |

Stax Studio, Memphis, July 21, 1973 Brief History : Raised on Rock is a studio album by Elvis Presley released in 1973. It, along with the album Elvis, were both released after the massive success of Aloha From Hawaii (although the entire Elvis album contained material recorded before the 'Aloha' show). The record sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It was recorded at Stax Studios in Memphis in July 1973 and Presley's home in Palm Springs, California in September 1973. Two songs from these sessions would be retained for release on the Good Times album the following spring. The initial vocal tracks were recorded in July 1973. The album actually was one of the few that failed to chart in the UK, but the single "Raised on Rock"/"For Ol' Times Sake" did enter the British charts. The album had a very different sound about it, more funky and soul-like that many of the previous efforts and was certainly a change in direction. Some of the songs are well known covers like "Are You Sincere" which had been around for many years, but some new songs like the lead off single were actually written for Elvis, or written by writers Elvis trusted such as Mark James. - A LEGENDARY PERFORMER, VOLUME 1 (LP) (US) RCA CPL1 0341 Released: November 1973 Side 1 That's All Right I Love You Because (Take 2) * Heartbreak Hotel Excerpt From "Elvis Sails" Don't Be Cruel Love Me *** Trying To Get To You *** Side 2 Love Me Tender Peace In The Valley Excerpt From "Elvis Sails" Fool Such As I Tonight's All Right For Love ** Are You Lonesome Tonight *** Can't Help Falling In Love *
Recorded: Sun Studios, Memphis, July 5, 1954 Brief History : Elvis: A Legendary Performer Volume 1 is a greatest hits collection by Elvis Presley issued in 1974 by RCA Records. It features 14 tracks, which includes twelve songs and two interviews with Presley. The album opens with his first recording from 1954, "That's All Right", the song that started his recording career at Sun Records. It was certified Gold on 1/08/1975 and Platinum and 2x Platinum on 7/15/1999 by the RIAA. Ultimately, four volumes of the A Legendary Performer series were issued over the next decade, with increasing amounts of previously unissued material. This first volume included previously unreleased live performances of several songs from Presley's 1968 TV special, an alternate version of his first known recording for Sun Records ("I Love You Because"), and the first American release of "Tonight's All Right for Love" from the European version of G.I. Blues. The two interview recordings were originally released by RCA in 1958 as the EP, Elvis Sails. Although RCA had released alternate takes of Presley studio recordings in the past—for example in 1958 two different takes of the song "Lover Doll" from the film soundtrack King Creole were released on the official soundtrack album (LPM-1884) and the reissue EP King Creole Volume 1 (EPA-4319)[1] -- this was the first time the label began seriously releasing such material, although large scale release of alternate takes by Presley would not begin until after his death.
