LET'S
BE FRIENDS (LP) (US) RCA Camden CAS 2408 Released: April 1970 Side 1 Stay Away, Joe (Record Version) ** If I'm A Fool (For Loving You) ****** Let's Be Friends ******* Let's Forget About The Stars **** Mama * Side 2 I'll Be There ***** Almost *** Change Of Habit ******* Have A Happy ******** * Recorded: Radio Recorders,
Hollywood, March 28, 1962 Let's Be Friends is the thirty-seventh album by Elvis Presley, released on RCA Camden Records CAS 2408, in April 1970. It is the second Presley budget album to appear on the RCA subsidiary label. It peaked at #105 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It was certified Gold on 7/15/1999 and Platinum on 1/6/2004 by the RIAA. Similar to its predecessor Elvis Sings Flaming Star, Let's Be Friends collects mostly unreleased songs recorded for Presley film soundtracks. Given the recent work of the revitalized Presley, in the past the Colonel might have objected to this kind of market saturation, but under the terms of Presley's agreement with RCA, budget albums brought extra cash outside of contract stipulations. Two non-movie outtakes appeared from the winter of 1969 sessions at American Sound Studio in Memphis, "I'll Be There" and "If I'm a Fool (For Loving You)." The songs "Mama," "Let's Forget About The Stars," and "Let's Be Friends" were all recorded for but not used in their respective movies. "Mama" was sung in the film Girls! Girls! Girls! by The Amigos., and Elvis' version first appeared on this album, with an alternate, abridged version included on the compact disc Elvis Double Features: Kid Galahad/Girls! Girls! Girls!. Three tracks originated from Presley's then-current film Change of Habit (including the movie's theme song), making this in essence an enhanced soundtrack release for that film. Like all Presley releases on the budget Camden label, this album has a very short running time, too short for a full-priced album in the 1970s Front Cover : Photo of Elvis. Title to the left. STAGE - FEBRUARY 1970 (LP) (US) RCA LSP 4362 Released: June 1, 1970 Side 1 See See Rider **** Release Me **** Sweet Caroline ** Runaway * Wonder Of You **** Side 2 Polk Salad Annie **** Yesterday * Proud Mary ** Walk A Mile In My Shoes ***** Let It Be Me *** * Recorded:
International Hotel, Las Vegas, August 25, 1969 DS On Stage is an Elvis Presley live album recorded between February 17 and 19, 1970 at the International Hotel, Paradise, Nevada. Released on RCA Records LSP-4362.It features the world-wide #1 single "The Wonder of You", which topped both the United States AC tracks chart and the British music chart. It was an immediate follow up to From Memphis to Vegas/From Vegas to Memphis, which also featured live recordings. Unlike the previous release, however, this album focused on songs that were not, at the time, associated with Elvis. This album was released in June 1970 and peaked on the chart in July 1970. It was certified Gold on 2/23/1971 and Platinum on 7/15/1999 by the RIAA. Other selections include "See See Rider", Paul McCartney's "Yesterday", Tony Joe White's "Polk Salad Annie", Del Shannon's "Runaway", and a version of "Let It Be Me". "See See Rider" would go on to become Elvis' frequent introductory number at his concerts, while "Polk Salad Annie" also became a regular part of his repertoire. The album is notable for not showing Elvis' name anywhere on the cover. The album has remained in print since its release date and has sold more than ten million copies globally. On January 8, 2010 it was announced that a Legacy Edition would be released, to follow the Legacy Edition release of "From Elvis In Memphis", in the spring of 2010. ELVIS
CHRISTMAS ALBUM (LP) The original Elvis' Christmas Album was out of print by the late 1960s. Interest in the album prompted RCA to re-release it in an altered version on its budget label RCA Camden in November, 1970. This version eliminated the four gospel tracks from the Peace in the Valley EP and added the 1966 holiday single "If Every Day Was Like Christmas," along with the 1970 non-seasonal B-side "Mama Liked the Roses", issued as the flip to Elvis' top ten single "The Wonder of You." With ten tracks and a shorter running time, it fit the standard for the budget label issues. The religious and secular Christmas songs were also mixed. The initial cover of this revised version echoed that of the 1958 reissue, except a more recent mid-60s vintage photograph with Elvis wearing a blue racing jacket with two white stripes on the left was used from the set of the 1967 movie Speedway. The album was also released in the UK with an album cover that featured Elvis' face from the 1970 Camden release in a circle in the middle surrounded in white with the title and the song selections in red, RCA Camden 1155. - THAT'S THE WAY IT IS (LP) (US) RCA LSP 4445 Released: November 1970 Side 1 I Just Can't Help Believin' **** Twenty Days and Twenty Nights * How The Web Was Woven ** Patch It Up ***** Mary In The Morning ** You Don't Have To Say You Love Me Side 2 You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' ****** I've Lost You **** Just Pretend *** Stranger In The Crowd ** Next Step Is Love Bridge Over Troubled Water ** *
Recorded: RCA Studio B, Nashville, June 4, 1970 Brief History : Elvis: That's the Way It Is is the 40th album by Elvis Presley, released on RCA Records, LSP 4445, in November 1970. It consists of eight studio tracks recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, and four live in-concert tracks recorded at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. It accompanied the theatrical release of the documentary film of the same name (although it is not generally considered a soundtrack album), and peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200. It was certified gold on June 28, 1973 by the RIAA. The original vinyl LP consisted of eight tracks recorded in the studio in Nashville at the marathon sessions in June 1970 that would also yield several singles and the Elvis Country album, and four tracks from his August 1970 engagement at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. The track "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" had been released as the advance single on October 6; its b-side "Patch It Up" appears in a live version here. "The Next Step Is Love" had previously been released as a b-side in July 1970, and its A-side "I've Lost You" appears in a live version here as well. The concert version of "I Just Can't Help Believin'" from this album would be released as a single in the United Kingdom in November 1971 and go to #6 on their charts; its b-side "How the Web Was Woven" was also taken from this album. A rehearsal version of the latter song was featured in the 1970 documentary Elvis: That's the Way It Is. Details : 1970 Release |

Label: KKK (2) – No. 38 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Unofficial Release Country: Singapore Released: 1970 While the cover of this record seeks to pass it off as a legitimate version of RCA-Victor LSP-4445 - even down to claiming "Printed in U.S.A." on the back - it is in fact an unofficial release (or "pirate" record as they were known in Southeast Asia). The KKK record label was never registered at the Singapore Patent Office as claimed, since no such label officially existed. The pirates even had the nerve to print "unauthorised...copying of this record prohibited" around the edge of the label when that is exactly what they were doing ! Note that all titles are as shown on the labels (there are some minor differences to the list of titles printed in the centre of the back cover. The title sequence varies from that on the original release, and includes some extra titles and tracks. Strangely, the back cover also lists the original titles in the correct sequence ( showing 6 tracks each side when the record actually has seven). Finally, the catalogue number of this release was also assigned to another completely different record on the KKK label ("Let It Be" by the Beatles). |
