In
Australia all records until 1969 had to carry a Publisher's
stamp to signify that the royalties to the publisher or owner
of the music had been paid. Nearly all labels had a printed
version on the label or multiples if owned by different publishers
as in the case of EP's and LP's. Some smaller labels who didn't
have the facilities to print it on the label had to attach
a paper royalty stamp which was a legal copyright requirement.
Since 1969, all publisher's were and still are, credited next
to or near the composer's name under the title, to comply
with copyright laws.
The paper royalty stamps were used in England, Australia and
some European countries since the early days. You will find
them on a lot of 78's from these countries. |
