In 1961, Lennie Martin and Lou Guarino, formerly partners in Calico and Robbee Records,  teamed together again on a new local label, World Records, with offices in 236 Carlton House, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After a few issues, the name was changed to World Artists. After closing the label in october 1965, Guarino formed a new label, American Music Makers.
