Gateway Records was founded in 1952 by Carl Burkhardt and Chuck Seitz. Gateway had a lot of subsidiarys, Big 4 Hits the largest. In 1955, Burkhardt set up his own pressing plant, Rite Records Productions Inc. In 1957, the company moved to Philadelphia.
