Chancellor Records was founded in Philadelphia in 1957 by Robert (Bob) Marcucci and Peter DeAngelis. The name was taken from a local Restaurant. The label's two main stars were Fabian and Frankie Avalon.
From 1972 some of the Challenge material was reissued on the Romar label, also owned by Robert Marcucci.
