Alston Records was started by Henry Stone and Steve Alaimo in 1968. "Alston" is a contraction of "Alaimo-Stone." Stone and Alaimo signed a distribution agreement with Atlantic / Atco, starting in the summer of 1968. In the summer of 1974, Stone and Alaimo shifted the label to their own TK Productions for distribution, using a new (3700) series starting in mid-1974.
