The
label was formed by Rolling Stones members in 1970, after
their recording contract with London
Records expired. The label was initially headed by
Marshall Chess, the son of Chess
Records founder Leonard Chess.
Rolling Stones Records never made much of an effort to sign
outside artists |

| When
"Hang Fire" was released as a single in 1982, Atlantic must
have found a lot of leftover sleeves from the seventies,
and issued the single with the tongue sleeve. Many collectors
actually bought copies of the single to replace worn or
missing tongue sleeves. |
