The CHS series is a common series of catalogue numbers used between the UK and USA, but it seems the USA numbers stretch farther than the UK. Missing numbers on either side of the Atlantic usually mean a different B-side or coupling used in either country.
In England 1968, promoters Chris Wright and Terry Ellis, partners in the Ellis-Wright Agency, agreed a licensing deal with Island Records for their clients. The agreement stated that if they achieved a certain number of hits within a set period they would be given their own label. The hits arrived - Chrysalis was born.
The label was sold to EMI in 1991.
