Canadian
American Records was founded in 1957 by Leonard Zimmer. The
label based in both New York City and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Late 1966, the label moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota.
The most popular artists for the label were the duo of Santo
& Johnny and singer Linda Scott.
After the label went dormant in 1968, the president, Leonard
Zimmer, turned the label over, in essence, to Joey Welz. (Welz
had a minor hit on the label in 1964).
In 1998, Dr. Philip J. Schwartz (X-Bat Records) produced
the CD compilation "The Canadian American Story"
by special licensing with Joel Welz. |
