| In
the PYE period, 20th Century used two concurrent numeral series.
The BTC 2000 numbers were the same as those of the the American
TC issues. The BTC 1000 series appear to have been specific to
Britain, though the material on them was often not British in
origin. When RCA took over, the 1000 series was dropped. |

20th
Fox Records started in USA in 1958 and was a subsidiary of film
studio 20th Century Fox.
In 1963, the name was changed to 20th Century Fox Records. The
company was rather unsuccessful - only 4 top 50 hits out of over
700 singles issued from 1958 to 1970. In 1972, the label was revived,
now as 20th Century Records, and again to 20th Century Fox Records
in 1978.
In Britain, the 20th Century label first started in 1974. The
previous material tended to appear on the Pye International label. |
